Roundabout at Center and Weatherford Drive

Project Summary:

This busy intersection off Alpine Avenue was reconfigured from a signaled intersection to a free-flowing roundabout to ease traffic congestion. The intersection serves shopping centers, hotels, restaurants, apartments, and a movie theater. The new roundabout design includes colored concrete, a stacked ledgestone retaining wall, and landscaping.

Project Highlights:

• Roundabout construction was completed in 2024
• Moore & Bruggink provided site layout, grading, signage plans, and traffic control
• Project timeline was a critical concern and Moore & Bruggink provided creative solutions to shorten full intersection closure to just four weeks
• Moore & Bruggink collaborated with Progressive Companies and the MDOT Local Agency Program to create an intersection transformation that improved both functionality and aesthetics
