Steven C. Groenenboom, P.E.


Steve began his engineering career with Moore+Bruggink in 1988 and over the past 28 years he has served in various leadership roles.  He had served as Vice President since 2007 and was named President of the company in the fall of 2015.  Steve has wide ranging engineering experience in all aspects of municipal engineering, and he serves as the municipal engineer for several municipalities.  Steve is familiar with utility master planning, project financing, budget and water/sewer rate reviews, grants, bonds, and special assessment procedures. Steve is active in his church and has served on the school boards of Sylvan and Ada Christian schools.  Steve attended Calvin College and graduated from the University of Michigan with Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in civil/structural engineering.


Brian J. Hannon, P.E.

Vice President

Brian leads the firm with extensive experience working on wastewater and water projects throughout Michigan and Indiana, including study, design, funding and grants, and construction engineering phases. The firm has won numerous National and State Awards for various projects at Moore & Bruggink that Mr. Hannon has led. He is a licensed Class B Wastewater Operator which helps bring real world experience to his designs. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration. He has been active on the Executive Boards of the Michigan Water Environment Association and the Western Chapter of the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers, and has been the recipient of several professional awards.


Alan Pennington, P.E.


Al joined Moore & Bruggink in 1993 as an intern while attending Michigan Technological University. After graduating in 1995 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering he became a full time member of the team. Al has a wide range of engineering and project management experience with a focus on municipal projects and the day to day aspects of engineering that arise in municipalities. He has led many road and bridge projects through the design and construction phases to improve the infrastructure in the West Michigan area. He has been a stockholder at Moore & Bruggink since 2000, was elected to the Board of Directors in 2006 and was promoted to Secretary/Treasurer in 2016. Al held various officer positions with the Western Chapter of the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers and was the Chapter President in 2007 and Scholarship Chairperson from 2008 to 2018. He has served on the Cascade Township Planning Commission and Cascade Township Zoning Board of Appeals.
